There's lots to do in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. But first, you gotta eat!

Forget about eating Italian or Chinese in Pigeon Forge (although you can find those restaurants too). You’ve gotta eat southern style, at least while you’re here. Fried chicken, corn bread, chicken fried steak, good ole home made meat loaf, with pecan pie for dessert, of course. Count calories when you get back home. While you’re in Pigeon Forge, you’re a southerner! And here’s where to eat:

Breakfast

  • Smokies Breakfast House 2751 Parkway, Pigeon Forge 865-453-0624 You can choose from 45 different breakfast dishes at this family style eatery. Get there early because the lines can be long during the tourist season. One visitor says she stops here every time she’s in Pigeon Forge for "the best french toast."
  • Golden Corral 3610 Parkway, Pigeon Forge 865-453-1827 Choose from more than 120 breakfast items.
  • Log Cabin Pancake House 4235 Parkway, Pigeon Forge 865-453-5748 You can find lots of pancake and egg specials here. Be sure to try the country ham, biscuits and gravy.

Lunch or Dinner

  • Apple Wood Farm House Restaurant Apple Valley Road Sevierville 865-428-1222 You can’t leave this true southern restaurant without trying the apple fritters. Folks come from miles around to taste these treats. Visitors say the only negative to this restaurant are the long lines during peak times. You can avoid them by stopping by for an early lunch or dinner. Apple Wood is open every day from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.. On your way out, stop by the country store and pick up some apple butter to take home.
  • Old Mill Restaurant 175 Old Mill Avenue Pigeon Forge 865-429-3463 This is not just a restaurant. The Old Mill is almost an entire community all by itself. You can stroll by the Creamery, the Pottery Shed, the Farm House Kitchen, the Toy Bin, the Candy Kitchen, or the General Store, before you even eat! A lot of tour busses stop here. Avoid peak lunch and dinner times. The view of the historic old mill is great, but the food is even better. Try country fried steak, fried chicken, chicken pot pie or the famous pot roast. You won’t leave hungry, because each meal includes dessert. Most people take the pecan pie home in a doggy bag.
  • Huck Finn’s Catfish Chicken and Steaks 3334 Parkway, Pigeon Forge 865-429-3353 If you’re really hungry, Huck Finn’s is famous for its bottomless bowl of baked white beans and ham, fresh ground coleslaw and hushpuppies. You can’t miss the dill pickles and sweet onion slices.

Just don’t step on the scale any time soon!
