Visit Paula Deen's favorite places and taste the food at her newest restaurant.
Savannah, Georgia is known for its deep southern history, but more importantly for its food! And one particular Savannah resident takes food very seriously. Paula Deen of Food Network fame, got her start here and still lives in this majestic sea side town. If you are a Paula fan and you’re in Savannah, you’ve got to take the Paula Deen tour of Savannah.
The tour begins daily at 9 a.m and lasts 3 and a half to four hours. A bus will pick you up from any downtown Savannah hotel.(This is included in the ticket price.)
Tour includes:
Lunch at Uncle Bubba’s Oyster House, 104 Bryan Woods Road, Savannah 912-897-6101 This is Paula Deen’s newest restaurant. Her brother, Bubba actually runs it. Needless to say, it is a popular spot. Appetizers include char grilled oysters, steamed oysters and oysters on the half shell. Entrees include crab cake, shrimp and grits, and steamed crab legs.
Tour of Byrd Cookie Company 6700 Water Avenue, Savannah 912-355-1716 A Savannah favorite since 1924, you can choose from a wide selection of gourmet specialties and boutique wines. A stop at Polk’s Produce 530 East Liberty Street, Savannah 912-238-3032 You’ll find a great selection of fresh home grown produce. The tomatoes are big and juicy!
A visit to Bethesda, where Paula got married in March of 2004 to Michael Groover. (Most people know him as Captain Mike!) The wedding aired on the Food Network.
You’ll also pass by more of Paula’s favorite shops and drive through the south side of town where Paula got her start. The tour includes a special gift for every adult and a VIP pass to Paula’s original restaurant, The Lady and Sons. It allows you to call the restaurant ahead of time to arrange priority seating. Her two sons, Jamie and Bobbie still manage it when they are not hosting their own food network show!
