This organized tour offers a chance to dine at Bistro Jeanty, Brannan's Grill, Brix Restaurant and Wine Shop or Mustards Grill and visit Napa's local vineyards.
Napa Valley Bike Tours offers customized bicycle tours through Northern California with a little adventure thrown in! Each day you’ll cycle in the vineyards. Not through, in! You’ll pedal on dirt roads close enough to the vines you could pick the grapes. You’ll also loop through wild life preserves that border the wineries. Don’t be surprised to see egrets, blue herons, mallards, cormorants, and hawks.
But this trip is not all about the cycling. Because you can also bird watch in a kayak, from a hot air balloon, or on a river boat. Or maybe that’s for the birds, and you just want to spend the day at the spa! The tour company gives you an option day, where you can trade in your bike for, say golf clubs, or a segway, or the back of a horse.
Dining
Choose from the following wine country restaurants:
Bistro Jeanty 6510 Washington St. Yountville, CA 707-944-0103 "Homey French Cuisine" is how Bistro Jeanty describes its menu. Rilletes de Canard(duck and goat cheese pate) is a favorite appetizer. So is Pieds de Cochon (pigs feet and haricot vert salad.) For the main course, you can choose between mussels steamed in red wine, ham and leek quiche with butter lettuce, and steak tartare with fries, among others. This wouldn’t be a French bistro without twelve desserts to choose from and more than forty wines and liqueurs on the menu.
Brannan’s Grill 1374 Lincoln Avenue, Calistoga, CA 707-942-2233 And the choices are: dungeness crab and Manillo mango salad, roasted baby beets, roasted free range chicken breast, brined Berkshire pork chop, seared Ahi tuna, organic salmon, Cabernet braised lamb shank, to name a few!
Brix Restaurant and Wine Shop 7377 St. Helena Highway, Yountvlle, CA 707-944-2749 Watch chefs prepare your meal in an exhibition kitchen in view from the dining room. Or sit on the patio where the scenery is breathtaking. For starters, try the duck confit pizza with caramelized onions, blue cheese and arugula. And move on to a salad of roasted beets, arugula, blue cheese, toasted hazelnuts, and balsamic vinaigrette. Choose from ten main course items, including scallops, fettuccini with prawns, braised short ribs, grilled Arctic char, and Alaskan halibut. Brix doesn’t just offer a wine list. It has a wine program. You can find the complete selection on their web site.
Mustards Grill 7399 Saint Helena Highway Yountville, CA If you're ready for some good old American food, this is the place. Appetizers include sweet corn tamales with wild mushrooms, onion rings with home made tomatoe apple ketchup, and three cheese ravioli. From the wood burning grill and oven, enjoy seafood tostada, spring vegetable moussaka, and chipotle rubbed quail.
